Heart rate tracking accuracy

I’ve been using an Alta HR since 2017 with HR readings that make sense, but on Tuesday February 18, my heart rate readings appear to be about double my actual heart rate. I have not changed out the band recently, nor have I changed the way I wear the device.

Has there been a software update that changes HR readings or calculations?

Hi @Bluemoon7836, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the details that were shared in your post. To answer your question, we haven't released any firmware update for the Alta HR that change the algorithms of how heart rate data is recorded. That being said and to move forward with this, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? Which mobile device are you using to sync your Fitbit? In the meantime I receive your answers, please restart your Alta HR following the steps that are specified on: How do I restart my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes.

Keep me posted and let me know if you have any additional questions.

As I mentioned in my original post, the issue started on 2/18/2020. The heart rate has been consistently wrong since then, when compared to manual measurements or measurements with other devices.

I use an iPhone 11 with the latest version of the app 3.14 to sync the device. I already followed the instructions to restart the Fitbit for HR troubleshooting. It doesn’t change the HR reading problem. I can see the erroneous HR displayed on the Alta HR face even before it syncs to the app.
