2 Charge 3 devices 2 different results?

So hubby and I got his and hers charge 3s for new year, I've thought all week the figures seem out, but this morning confirmed a huge difference.

We went out for a walk, my fitbit recorded 5500 steps and 2 1/4 miles, his recorded 7500 steps and over 3 miles? 

We're the same height and have the same stride so why the massive difference? 

Anyone got any ideas?

There are some reasons why this could be happening. The first thing I'd recommend is reading this article that talks about the way steps are tracked.  Additionally, you could also try the steps listed in this help article that could help with the notifications.
