4.28.3 still not recording activity

Hi

Sorry for another post but I am just not getting anywhere with this.

Since all these recent updates the app will not record my activities properly. I will walk for 2 hours and it will record a 17 minute walk. This morning, worked out for 45 minutes, it records 29. It allows me to manually change it, but when I 'save' it reverts immediately to the original incorrect time. So none of my acitivy data is accurate any more.

I have a Charge 2 which has worked perfectly well until the updates started last Sept. I am on Android v 14.

Fitbit/Google, all I want to know is, will this ever be fixed? If the answer is no, please be honest so that I can make an informed decision about what to do. Please don't tell me to go through the troubleshooting again, these errors cannot be fixed by repeated reboots and reinstalls, the problem is with the app itself.

I'm not a technical person but I can't understand HOW the app worked perfectly for so many years and now it is useless as a fitness tracker, which it why I bought it in the first place!

I would really appreciate an honest answer so that I can stop trying to force the app to work if it's never going to be put right, it's not the users responsibility to do that!

4.28.3 did not fix my sync issues either

Best Answer

I contacted Fitbit Support via chat, again, just now.

You will never believe this, but there is a 'known issue' with 4.28.3 which they are 'working hard' to fix, and it will be fixed in the next release.

AAAARRRGGGHHHHG!!!!! 😬😬😬

So frustrating!

@JuanFitbit hello, I noticed you've responded to some other synching issues that other users have had.  I am still getting issues even with 4.28.3, please could you advise?

I had previously been told 4.28.3 would fix the problem but it hasn't.

I was on Chat with one of your colleagues who said it's still a 'known issue' and we will just have to wait for the next update. But how long will this go on for please? When is the next update due? 4 28.3 doesn't seem to have done anything.....

Thanks

Hi everybody ! Thank you for your messages.

@Linz16 Thank you for your feedback and information.
We noticed that the  4.28.3 app version helped most of the users having issues with the syncing and pairing the Fitbits with the account.

Did you try turning your phone off/and on again after the installation of the app update?
Do you get an error message? If so could you please attach a screenshot of it on your answer?

Do the difficulties appear when connecting  with Wifi or mobile Data?

In the meantime try the steps described here, now that you have the latest Fitbit app

In my case, the distance and steps are not syncing with the correct information. No error message. I have again un-installed and reinstalled, turned off and on the phone, logged out and back into fitbit account. Still syncing wrong 4.28.3

@JuanFitbit thanks for responding.

Yes I've restarted my phone. No error messages. The link you gave to the troubleshooting, I've gone through those steps so many times since September 2023 and it never makes a difference, but I've done it again as you requested. Still this morning no activity logged.

To clarify, my device IS syncing with the app OK generally. Steps, heart rate etc all fine. It just does not pick up activities anymore, or records them incorrectly.  If I don't keep adding them in manually the app says my 'exercise days' are zero.

Sometimes it doesn't pick up any activity at all, sometimes it does but the time is always wrong eg recording a 2 hour walk as 18 minutes. Even though there is an option on the app to edit the activity, if you try to do that it will not save your amendment, it just reverts to the incorrect data as soon as you go back to home screen.

I do activities both when out and about, and at home, so the issue happens both with WiFi and mobile data.

@Linz16 Thank you for your reply and clarification.

Do you see none of the tracked activities or only some?
The activities you are logging in were automatically detected or did you start and finish them on the Fitbit before sync? Meaning only walks are shown but no runs, etc.

@lin317 Thank you for your feedback.
When you say that the data is not correctly synced, do you mean the data from the activities or the main stats during normal use?

In the meantime both of you, try clearing the cache from your Fitbit app on your cell phone.
Start the Fitbit app . Check if the data is shown again.

I just use my device to keep track of steps and distance.  The step count and distance never match what is actually on the device.  When it syncs, the app is always showing less than the device.

@JuanFitbit thanks. I've tried every way. I've tried starting and finishing an activity on the device, when I sync it picks up the steps and heart rate etc but not the activity.  I've tried not setting it on the device, when I do that it sometimes picks up no activity, or sometimes picks up a walk or a workout but the duration of time is wrong, as per my examples above.

@JuanFitbit hi any update please as another week has passed? I've had no response and now multiple posts about this issue have been raised.

I got the 4.29 update yesterday. It has not fixed my steps and distance syncing discrepancy.

Hi @lin317  same here, the title of this thread is now misleading because it's taken so long to address (or not address!) that the app version has moved on! And still it doesn't work.

Luckily my heart rate is still recording nicely so I can easily see all the times that these issues are making me stressed!!!!
