7 Step Totals Different Dashboard/Friends

When I look at my total steps for the past 7 days on the dashboard it shows 55,390, but when I look at total steps for 7 days in Friends it shows 36,579. Why the 18K difference? Thanks!

I think there may be a couple of causes of this.

 

Firstly, on the friends tile the total shown is the steps for today plus the steps for the previous 6 days - is that what you meant by "the past 7 days"? 

 

Secondly, the friends tile total steps only includes steps that were directly tracked by your fitbit. Any steps from manually logged activities or 3rd party apps are not included. 

 

Could one of these explain the numbers you are seeing?
