Activity Tracked without Heart Rate

Pixel Watch 2 with Pixel Phone 7a

Tuesday I'd a repeat of the GPS dropping out 0.29 miles into a 3.5 mile ride - the duration records right.

Thursday I've a new failure - GPS has caught the route and elevation but there's heart rate activity. Actually, nothing from putting the watch on after charging and all through the night - no sleep either.

Google told me this is a Fitbit fault but the watch appeared locked as if it wasn't worn.

Hello @MiniSumo

Are you seeing your heart rate on your watch at all? Do you see a green light on the back of your Pixel Watch 2? You should see it if you lift the watch from your wrist or remove your watch. The green light is the heart rate sensor. If you aren't seeing the green light, that would be the reason why you're not getting a heart rate for your activity or sleep log.

If there's no green light on the back of your watch, some users have had success with doing a factory reset. If you do a factory reset, check to see if you have Backup turned on in the Watch app:

  • In the Watch app, tap on Google
  • Tap on Backup by Google One
  • On the Backup page, you should see when the last successful backup occurred

Speaking from experience, having a recent backup makes the factory reset process a lot less painful. You won't have to re-setup as much.

You can do the factory reset from either the Pixel watch Settings menu or from the Watch app.

Pixel Watch:

  • Tap on the Gear icon to open the Settings menu
  • Scroll up to System and tap
  • Scroll up to Disconnect & reset and tap on the tile
  • Tap on the check-mark

Watch app:

  • Swipe up to System and tap
  • Tap on Disconnect & reset watch
  • Tap on Reset

If doing a factory reset didn't restore the green light on your watch, you should contact Google support and let them know that your heart rate sensor isn't working.

the issue is being caught between Google Pixel point to Google Fitbit and back again - neither really supporting 😕

I've got the green light, I'm not sure if it disappeared.

This seems to be something passing, all is goo since the last recharge and restart.... Just a question of for how long?

Hi @MiniSumo

Thanks for letting us know that it looks like your issue resolved after a recharge & restart. Got my fingers crossed 🤞 that everything goes smoothly.

To be honest, whilst the intermittent issue has been cleared this isn't a resolved problem - the voted best answer of factory reset sucks.

As a reoccurring problem, with lack of engagement or resolution from Google/Fitbit, mean I've never been so unhappy with a Tech Purchase.

I'm waiting for the unexplained, unpredictable failure to reoccur whilst I'm still chasing support or being fobbed on in direct helpdesk requests.

😞
