Just got my Alta HR and facing those issues:

 

1- whenever I login it says fitbit.com is unavailable try again later

2- Once I close the app and run it again, I will be logged in !

3- I'll choose setup device, choose alta HR and the app crashes

4- I then try it on my second android phone and get the same !

So I sorted the issue by entering into my account on the website and it seemed like I had a mobiletracker synced to my account since 2014, once I deleted that device from my account then my Alta HR started syncing
