Alta adding too many steps

When I've only gone maybe 200 steps, it says I've gone over 1,000. It's been saying 2-4k a day when I've only gone maybe 300 steps. I swing my arm and gesture a lot so I even put it as left handed, the wrist it's on. The device is brand new. Why would it be adding excessive steps. Even with gesturing and stuff, I don't do it THAT much.

@Lakina87 Interesting! That's a lot of additional steps compared to what you're saying you're actually taking. I recommend restarting the Alta and then going on a 100 steps walk test. Walk 100 steps, stop and check how many steps the Alta gave you. Is it close to 100?
