It's not clear to me what that does. I found this in one of the help files:
"Turn on the Always Connected option in your device settings to improve the Bluetooth connection with your phone. Note that turning on this feature may cause the battery on your device to drain more quickly than normal."

My reading of it is that you should turn it off (to save on battery usage) but if you then get syncing issues then turn it on to see if it helps.

Steve, my problem is similar but the reverse. We want to keep "always connected" off.
Always connected is eating my wife's phone battery, (Samsung Galaxy s10+), and she does not need it on all day. She manually syncs manually. Her app is version 3.1(20213410)
The problem we are having is that we turn it off but as soon as we close the app, it turns it back on again. How do you get it to turned off and stay off?
To add more mystery to the problem, I have a Samsung S8+ running the same version, (according to the help prompt), but my dashboard looks different and Always connected stays turned off on it.
I don't think it makes a difference but my wife's fitbit is a Inspire HR and mine is an Alta HR.
