Whenever I attempt to log anything, food, or weight, the app crashes as the new page attempts to load in the app. Have already attempted uninstall, deletion of data and cache, and reinstall. No luck. Also, I no longer receive notifications on my Fitbit, and the only way I can change anything on my Fitbit is by going into the website settings, changing it through the website, then syncing it to through the Fitbit app. I am in the Android beta program, so I suspect it is an issue regarding that. I am currently running Android 8.0.0 on the Google pixel.

@Blanq The Fitbit app does not support beta versions of the Android OS. This is why you're experiencing crashes.
I recommend using Android 7.0 or below OR syncing via a computer for the time-being until Android 8.0 is no longer in beta.

Your phone isn't supported and you're running a beta release of android.
What do you expect to achieve from posting here?
Fitbit has already ignored the release of the Google Pixel and many other phones made by everyone bar Apple & Samsung.

Hello guys,
I have the FitBit App on my Google Pixel XL which is running on Android 8.0.0 (Beta Android O). The app keeps crashing, all I can do is view my dashboard, if I want to check anything it crashes, if I want to log anything it crashes.
Is it because of my Android version ? Is there anything I can do ?
The problem is so bad I can't use the app, I have to log in my computer to check or change anything.
Thank you

The frustrating thing is nothing in the current Android API (24 or 25) / Android N / 7.0 / 7.1 should have changed that would cause the Android Fitbit application to break so horribly bad. The beauty of the API level system that Android uses is that application developers have a pretty strong guarantee that if they are compatible with a specific API level - they will stay functional.
I switched my daily phone to Android O shortly after Google I/O. I use a large number of applications on my phone on a daily basis. The Fitbit application is the ONLY application I have consisitent, repeatable problems with.

I'm right there with you. I have many applications on my phone as well, and the only one that has list is functionality is the Fitbit app. And it's just not a matter of downgrading back to Android Nougat either, because we would need to wipe all our phone data for that kind of thing. It's really unfortunate. At least the app still take my exercises and logs them. I'll just log my food and water and weight elsewhere.

I'm running Android 8.0 latest beta on my Nexus 6P with an Alta HR. The app crashing is super annoying, but I at least got notifications working.
1. Go to fitbit app settings > notifications
2. Click the button to turn on notifications
3. When it sends you to the OS settings, allow the app to have notifications. If you've done this before, disallow and then reallow.
4. Hit back
5. Turn on encryption.
6. Send a test notification
7. If this is your first attempt: leave the fitbit settings, close the app, maybe reboot (might not be necessary). Repeat 1-6 (if this was your first time; it seems like it won't take the first time)
Let us know how it works!

Is there a timeline for adding support for Android Oreo?
My Google Pixel is running a stable version of Android Oreo and the food logging flow still crashes the app.
Thanks,

I'm seeing the same thing here on Pixel XL with official Android Oreo release and app version 2.56 (2193156).
The crash only seems to occur when selecting food items from search results. Editing already entered food, selecting items from the favorites, recent, etc. tabs, or scanning a barcode all seem to work correctly.

Looks like the Play store still only has 2.56 up. Where did you get 2.57? Can you share the . APK?

My mistake - I thought I had left the Android Sync Beta group but I apparently had not.
I don't think Fitbit would take kindly to me sharing the beta APK and it appears they are not currently accepting new users into the program, but you can try getting more information:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/fitbit-android-sync-beta
and
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.fitbit.FitbitMobile
I expected them to do a stable release this past week, but maybe with the Labor day holiday they've pushed it back a bit. Hold tight, hopefully it won't be much longer!

Hmm.. maybe if beta testers had been paid attention to, then the Fitbit app would be working with Android 8.0 now.
