Android app crashing

Android app has been crashing since update. When I try to open it immediately pops up a grey box saying "fitbit keeps stopping" and gives 3 options app info, close app, and send feedback. I've tried restarting my phone and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Neither have worked.

When I reached out to customer service, they had no actionable suggestions/solutions. Agent said my device might not be compatible, but according to the website, it should work if my phone has android 10 update and my device is not listed as one of the ones known to have issues (e.g. Huwei). My phone already had the android 10 update and no other updates are pending. Agent's only other solution was to wait 24 hours.

Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions?

Hello @rbkhrogers

Maybe I can help, or at least try. I understand you’ve already uninstalled then reinstalled the Fitbit app, which is what I would do first as well. I would try clearing the cache. To clear the cache of the Fitbit app log out from your Fitbit app if your able to and go to your phone settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and proceed to "Force Stop" the Fitbit app. Finish the workaround by restarting your phone. When your phone restarts go back to your Fitbit App app and try again. Because phone compatibility was brought up you can look here to see if your phone is compatible: https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/technology/compatible-devices Although your description of your phone tells me that it is compatible.

😃I’m hoping this helps. Come back and keep me posted

I had not thought to check cache (Idk why, I usually do so on my laptop when I trouble shoot, will add to phone troubleshooting list). When I did so, cache was already empty, but I noticed that somehow the app had migrated over to my memory card instead of the internal device storage. I migrated it back over and am now able to open app and log in. Thank you!

This worked for me for about 2 days and it's back to crashing again. I don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall every few days.

I found a solution recently by realising that the app was installed on my sd card but didn't like being there. After transferring it to internal storage it works perfectly. Hope this helps someone.
