Android app unable to find/sync Charge 2

For the past 15 hours or so my phone has not been able to sync with my fitbit Charge 2.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8, and the Fitbit app is up to date. I have tried everything, with no success. I rebooted the app. I rebooted the phone. I turned Bluetooth on and off. I deleted the fitbit app and then re-installed it. Nothing worked: whenever I tried to sync to the Charge 2, I got a red exclamation icon, saying the sync didn't work.

So finally I removed the Charge 2 device from the app (which is my only fitbit device on there). I'm now trying to re-add it into the app, and the phone cannot find it. I go through all the steps: select Charge 2 from the list of devices, click "SET UP", Agree with the terms & conditions, then "NEXT"; the device is powered on at this stage, and it has 50%+ battery. But the app is not seeing it. After waiting for 2 minutes on the "SEARCHING" screen, nothing happens and the app says "TRY AGAIN".

The fitbit is currently useless...

Welcome to the Community, @fonehome.

Thanks for the details provided and troubleshooting performed so far. Is your Charge 2 paired to your phone's Bluetooth? If it is, please unpair or erase your Charge 2 from your phone's Bluetooth and try the rest of troubleshooting steps from this help article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

In case that you have another phone/tablet, you can try syncing your Charge 2 with it as well.

Hope this helps.
