Android auto updates of (other) apps don't work when fitbit app installed on Android 8.1 / Nexus 5x

I'm running the latest version of the Fitbit Android app (2.67.1) on my Nexus 5x phone running Android 8.1. I've been using it without problems since I bought my Charge 2 about 7 weeks ago.

I get the constant "Fitbit is using battery" warning in the notification bar, which is fine - the Fitbit app told me that this will happen when running on Android 8, so I just ignore it.

However, today I realised that *no* apps on my phone have been updated since the time I installed the Fitbit app, 7 weeks ago, despite the fact that I have the Auto Updates option enabled in the Play Store. The auto updates always used to work before I installed the Fitbit app.

I wonder if this is anything to do with the "Fitbit is using battery" message - perhaps Android doesn't start auto update if it sees that an app is using battery?  That's just a guess. But in any case, this problem started when I installed Fitbit.

Has anyone else running Fitbit on Android 8 experienced this problem?

Thanks for your response @sfringer. Glad to hear it is working well for you. On further investigation I have discovered that my Nexus 9 tablet is not doing auto-updates either. I think it's a problem with the cache or something on my Google Play Store app - I don't think it's anything to do with the FitBit app. Looks like it was just a coincidence that the auto updates stopped working at around the same time that I installed FitBit.

@DrTim I am running the same Android setup (Nexus 5X/8.1) with an Ionic. I have not encountered that behavior. My updates for other Android apps have been occuring as expected. I've had my Ionic for about a month.
