Android widget on marshmalllow

Just got a new phone (moto G4) running 6.0.1 and installed the Fitbit app.

The widget is not shown to add to the home screen.  From reading another post on this (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-HR/Android-widget/m-p/1214860#M104372) it seems it wont work from an SD card?

I have the SD card formatted as internal storage to maximise storage available - is this why?  any timescale to fix as I don't want to have to wipe the phone and start again just because this 1 app doesn't work properly.

Looking at the link you supplied it would appear you answered your own question. It does not work if the app is installed on the SD card. Is there some reason that you cannot install the app to the internal memory? I wouldn't say that this is a bug that needs to be fixed. Android for years avoided providing support for supporting apps on SD cards because there are too many variables that can cause issues.

Finally worked out how to move it to internal storage when the SD card is formatted as internal - suggest this needs to be added as a FAQ so others can do it - although I suspect that it may have to be repeated in the future as updates are applied.   (for anyone looking for it, its settings, storage & USB, select your SD card, Apps and find the fitbit app - change the storage used to Internal)

As to whether this is a bug that needs fixed I disagree.  Android does now (from 6.0) support using SD cards as internal storage and stores apps data etc there, so the app needs to take account of this.

@rsmith A warm welcome to our Fitbit Community! It's great to hear that you were able to move the app to the internal storage. I really appreciate your positive feedback regarding the Android devices that support SD cards as internal so the apps can be moved to the widgets' screen. This type of feedback goes to our development team and help us to improve our products and services.

@SunsetRunner Thanks for your contribution in this thread. I really appreciate it.
