App not recording activity distance correctly

I’ve today resurrected my old Fitbit One and downloaded the Fitbit App from the Playstore on my Galaxy S6. Having just been on a walk the map route recorded shows only 80% of my actual route. The 20% not showing (a distance of possibly a mile) was over fields and open heathland with tracks taken not shown when you look at Google Maps directly.

Any suggestions why this might be ?

To better assist you with this, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? In the meantime I receive your answers, please try the following steps and let me know if the issue persists:

 

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Uninstall the app from your mobile device.
  3. Make sure that the Android version is up to date.
  4. Reboot your mobile device.
  5. Reinstall the Fitbit app.
  6. Login using your account credentials.

Hi there,

 

Just to to answer your initial questions this was the first time I had used my Fitbit in ages and had never used it linked to an app on my smart phone. The version of the app was as was current from Playstore as I had only just downloaded before going for the walk. Firmware on Fitbit one has also been updated to 6.64 and on my Galaxy S6 Android 7 which is the highest version of Android it can be.

 

As per you suggestion I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and then have now taken a second but slightly longer walk including the same route as previously. On this occasion it produced a map much closer to ten route I took although not 100% accurate but acceptable as an indication of roughly where travelled. I would be interested in how frequently the app takes a recording of gps lat/long

Well its day 3 and have this morning completed another almost identical walk but again it does not plot route correctly missing out a lot and also showing where i havent been. 

Ive just checked Playstore and not there us an update so have done so and will see what if any difference that makes
