App not updating properly

Hello,

I have the Fitbit Alta and everything was working great between that and the communication to the app just fine up until a few weeks ago. Then, the app on my android (Android 7.0 on Droid Turbo 2) stopped wanting to update on the proper day. Steps wouldn't show up, sleep stats, and other stats would all read as 0 except the calories burned though the number it does show isn't accurate as per my tracker.

Steps and stats are showing accurate and current on the tracker itself. When forcing the app to sync, sometimes it doesn't attempt at all (no 'status bar' as the app updates) or it says that the tracker is not found. I am on a wi-fi connection, the bluetooth on the phone is showing that the tracker is connected, and nothing else seems to be off.

Usually, I can shut off the phone and restart it and then the app will be able to connect and sync properly for the rest of the day. But come the next day, it again either doesn't sync or says the tracker cannot be found and I have to restart my phone again. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app twice and that seems to make no difference.

So I am finally reaching out for help as this is getting rather annoying. Today is a little bit of a different case as even a phone restart is not getting the app to sync and only will show stats from 2 days ago (the last time I restarted the phone).

Any suggestions on what to try next?

Hey @Maethor! Welcome to the Community.

That can definitely be annoying, like you said. From what you're saying, it mostly sounds like a syncing issue so we'll try to troubleshoot that first. Let's try to restart your Alta by following these steps:

  1. Plug your Alta into it's charging cable and being charging it. +
  2. Press the button on your charging cable three times within eight seconds, briefly pausing between presses. The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer.
  3. Eight seconds after the first button press, you'll see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This means Alta is restarting.
  4. After you see the logo you can unplug your tracker from the charging cable

After the restart, please try this:

  1. Open the Bluetooth settings on your mobile and look for the Alta.
  2. Remove the Fitbit from the paired devices.
  3. Open the Fitbit app and go to the account tab.
  4. Tap on 'Set Up a New Device' and follow the instructions to setup your Alta once again.

Then it should start syncing correctly and the app should display the proper information.

Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions.
