App notifications

Hello,

Rather a weird one this after a cursory glance at other topics. My Fitbit app for whatever reason is not displaying notifications. It will happily send notifications from other apps to my watch, such as text messages or phone calls, but it will not display its own notifications either on my phone or my watch. Say, for example, I get invited to a Work Week Hustle. Originally I would receive a notification telling me that I've been invited. However, now I will only see if I've been invited by going into the app itself. The same occurs for any notification that the app should show, nearing goals for example, or being overtaken.

As far as I can see I've got all notifications turned on, both in the app and on my phones notifications settings, so I'm at a loss as what the issue could be. I'm running app version 3.5 (20243427) if that makes a difference and it's been an issue for the past few updates. I've tried reinstalling to no avail.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I realise this is a minor issue but it's a tad annoying to be honest.

I'm having this issue as well as my wife (I have the blaze and she has the Inspire HR) - same app version.

Hopefully, someone will post a resolution soon 🙂

The Fitbit apps comes up with:

"Notification service not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker"

Restart doesn't resolve this issue.

I don't get anything like that annoyingly. It just refuses to give me notifications. It's weird as the majority of complaints seem to be from not receiving notifications (txt etc) to the watch but that works fine. It's literally just notifications from the Fitbit app on my phone which is very weird indeed...

Ok...  After alot of investigation, it was found that the phone's optimiser (this is the program on the phone that stops programs running all the time and frees up the phones ram in order to extend battery life) was stopping the fitbit app from running in the background...  Because the app wasn't running in the background, notifications weren't being sent to the fitbit device...

If your using a Huawei or Honor phone, open up the optimiser -> click on the battery -> App launch -> then turn off the automatically manage for the Fitbit app (the fitbit app will show that it is now managed manually, the other apps will show that they are being managed automatically).  Exit the app, then restart the phone (you may have to restart 2 or 3 times not sure why).  If you are using another brand, they may use another/a different optimiser, so the above guidance may be different.

Hope that this helps 🙂

Thanks for the tip but unfortunately it didn't solve the issue. I haven't optimised the Fitbit app and it's currently set up "not optimised" so my phone hasn't decided to do it automatically either. Glad you fixed your issue though! 😄
