App/phone step counting and syncing question

Hey there.   I have an Inspire 2 that I love.  But, there are times when I take it off and only have my phone on (with the premium app).  Question.  Does the app count steps with just the phone?   And, if so, will it merge those steps with the watch once you sync it and have it back on?

For some reason, if I don't have the watch on, the app doesn't count steps.  My Google fit app does, though.

Tracking steps with phone is called MobileTrack.  For more info, see How do I use Fitbit MobileTrack?

Also from Can I use more than one Fitbit device with the same account?

I see this is posted in Android app section, so I guess that would rule you out for using this.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thanks.  So they support a Windows 10 phone, which almost no one owns, but not the mobile OS that is on the vast majority of the world's phones?   Interesting.

Thanks for the answer!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Psuhammer. Thanks for the information provided @JohnnyRow.

@Psuhammer In addition to what @JohnnyRow shared above, if your Android phone meets the requirements for the Fitbit app, the MobileTrack feature should be available as long as you don't have a device paired.

See you around.

That's what I was hoping was NOT the case.  I have the Inspire paired but it appears I need to use the Google Fit app instead of the Fitbit app to count steps if I don't have my watch on and only have my phone.

I am assuming I can manually change my steps for the day in Fitbit Mobile, though, correct?

Hi, @Psuhammer.

You can add steps and activities from the Fitbit app by following the instructions from this help article: How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?

Hope this helps!
