App v2.63 Syncing Behavior

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have been noticing an odd behavior with syncing since upgrading to the Android app v2.63 - If I open the Ionic device screen and tap the Sync Now it will spin the arrows for a while and eventually stop, but under the Sync Now it will continue to show the last time it synced, not the current status.  But, if I scroll back to the main dashboard, it shows that it has synced and updated all of the tiles. If I then go back to the Ionic device screen, under the Sync Now it will show "a moment ago".  So, even though it appeared not to sync, the tracker on the device screen, it had in fact completed the sync operation.  This would leave one to think their tracker is not syncing, and cause them to re-sync it, when in fact it had already completed the sync process.

Hi there @USAF-Larry, thank you for bring this to my attention, I appreciate all the details you have provided.

I noticed the same behavior when I was testing the Ionic with Android, but this was with the previous version of the app. You are correct the app shows it has not synced, but in reality the information has synced. So what I did to resolve this delay was to log out from my account and force quit the Fitbit app before I logged back in. I'm sure you are very savvy about this process so I'm wondering if you already tried it?

Rest assure I will forward your comments to our teams to keep reviewing this behavior.

See you later and thank you for your participation in our Community!

@RobertoME, when I first noticed that behavior I did Force Stop the app, cleared Cache & deleted Data, shut down the phone, re-started the phone, and logged back into the app.  But, I have noticed the same syncing behavior since then.   If I am near the computer when I sync the tracker, I click on the Dashboard link on the top of the web page to see if it has completed syncing and updated the data - it usually has - and then close out of the app.

Hi there @USAF-Larry, thank you for the additional details you have provided me and my apologies for not posting any update recently.

I just wanted to let you know there is a new version of the Fitbit app that started rolling out this week, make sure to update your app when it becomes available in your Google play store. It might help to address the behavior of the app you have reported.

For more details please take a look at this post: Android app version 2.65 is now available - 1/22

See you later and stay awesome! Robot Very Happy

I will keep an eye on Google play store for v2.65, @RobertoME - it isn't available in mine yet.  The bug I mentioned in 2.63 was continued in 2.64, so we'll see if it is corrected in 2.65.
