Automatic Time Zone setting turns off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

On a trip to the east coast, I noticed my Fitbit keeps reverting to Central Time. I go back into the advanced settings and see the Use network time setting turned off. I will then turn on the setting and then a day or so later it's off again and back to Central Time. Any help on this is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @calebpenney. Welcome! It's great to see you here.

Thanks for taking the time to share detailed information about what's happening with the Fitbit app. It's odd that this setting changes by itself and let's try some steps together:

  1. Remove your Fitbit from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  3. Go to your phone's settings and tap on Apps > Fitbit > Storage > Clear Cache.
  4. Go back one screen, tap on force stop and reboot your phone.
  5. Open the Fitbit app and log back in to your account.
  6. Verify if the Automatic Time Zone settings are turned on.
  7. Tap on your profile's icon > Fitbit image > Sync now.

Give it a try and let me know how everything goes.

I'm having the same issue. I'm constantly traveling from coast to coast. I can't rely in this watch for the correct time because it keeps shutting the automatic time zone option off by itself. I turn it back on and it miraculously overrides my decision at a seemingly random time and turns itself off. I'm going to try this fix but I'll be honest, this was a deal breaker for me. I bought a Samsung watch.

Hi @SunsetRunner. Welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, as well for the steps that you've tried prior posting. I see where you're coming from about these settings not working on the Fitbit app and let's work on this together. Just to confirm, were you able to try the steps posted above? Also, have you made sure to update the Fitbit app to the latest version? If that's correct, please provide me with the following information:

  • Make/model of your phone
  • Android OS/software version of your phone
  • Fitbit app version.

I'll be around, keep me posted.

It still does this. Turn the "Automatic Time Zone" on. It will remain on until I cross into a different time zone. The time on my Fitbit changes. When I cross back into the original time zone, the time does not change back. Check the app and the setting is now off. Irritating.

Welcome to the Community, @marsrunner42.

Thanks for the details about the time on your device. I understand where your frustration is coming from. Please try to do the following if this happens again:

1. Log off from the app by going to your profile's picture > Log Out.

2. On your phone go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit > Force Stop.

3. Restart your phone.

4. Login back to the Fitbit app and turn on the Automatic time zone option

Hope this helps.

I have the exact same issue. It's ridiculous that 2.5 years after the original post this issue is still not resolved and all the issues I have with my Fitbit Sense were raised years ago and we all get the same standard canned responses to clear the cache, restart the device, etc.

I'm going to trash this watch and never buy anything from Fitbit again

My wife and I both have this problem (she has a Versa 2, I have a Fitbit Sense).   Everytime we cross a time zone, "automatic time zone" gets turned off.   We both use Pixel 3 phones.   I've seen posts about this problem dating back 4+ years, and still no solution?     Solutions with "clear cache" or "reset app", etc are just nonsense.    This is a simple and common problem, not some random hiccup.   Fix it already!!!

A phone service rep talked me thru this...

Log Out!

On the Fitbit app, tap on your picture top left and scroll to the bottom to log out, then close the app. I suppose you could clear cache as well.

When I logged back in, both location and automatic time zone were toggle off, but I turned them on, did a sync and for the first time in 3 months they stayed on! My fingers are crossed....

Good luck!

This has been a problem for years. It doesn't seem like this support forum is reaching the developers who can actually fix this.
