There is literally no reason to require access to location when the app is not running in order to sync between phone and the device. Especially when I'm in the app and actively trying to sync.
It has never been required in the past and should not be required now.
This is just Google data scraping.
It needs to be fixed ASAP.

Hi, @padriff , depending on your phone and phone OS the prompt to turn on location services in order to sync has been around for many years. Fitbit has a help article that discusses this that you might find explains in a little more detail. Discussions of this in the Community Forums go back a long time.

It's a new issue in the updated app.
Prior to the update it would even sync in the background. After the update it prevents me from swiping down to sync and has a big banner at the top telling me I have to enable location to sync (even when it is enabled while I'm using the app)
