Battery Life display on the app

In case you haven't worked it out, for those of you who, like me, really relied on the feature in the old software showing the percentage of battery life remaining, here is the very poor replacement. From the Home screen on the app, select the Phone and watch symbol in the top left of screen. Then select the device you have. All you get is low, medium, full. No percentage. I know, rubbish right. The new software has brought in the need for more key depressions, not great for my arthritic fingers, to get less information. I don't often say this but the people who designed the new software need firing.

@Nickyhelp Nice to see you in the forums again. Appreciate your feedback and instructions where to find the battery status on the new Fitbit app. I understand it was useful to have this information on the app as well. For the time being, I have been checking the battery directly on my device. Depending on which Fitbit device you have, you can check the battery status on the settings. On a Fitbit Sense for example, you can swipe right to see the battery level in percentage. On the Charge 5 on the other hand, you have to swipe up, the battery level will be shown at the top of the screen.

I have a Fitbit Luxe and cannot find battery level on my device. I also have arthritis in my fingers so having less swipes and keyboard depressions, the better. Having the percentage on display at all times was far better than no percentage and many swipes or key depressions. Sent from my Galaxy

The light on my Charge 3 doesn't work, so I am completely reliant on the app for steps, hours walked 250 steps, etc. A battery life percentage is more precise than "medium". Is there a chance of returning to something that worked and conveyed useful information? Thank you.

Due to this change, my Fitbit is dead and im

out of town without my charger. It’s terribly annoying.

Agree. It is so bad. Boring to look at. More difficult to use. I hate it. Thanks for battery info. Not great. It was always first reminder to charge up. Why to they feel the need to mend what ain't broken. Awful.

Thanks, Nickyhelp, I too am frustrated with that what I see as a MAJOR loss in the new app

It's like going back 5 years. Rubbish.

I can tell you're not analytical. I am and like knowing exactly how much is left on my Charge5. Swiping with carpal tunnel and trigger finger is often painful. Having those numbers show up on the Phone app saves my fingers from locking up. Please please encourage this return in exacts. I certainly do not want to have to go by a Samsung device that has more options than I need. This was sufficient.

The loss of the battery charge percentage is an absolute downgrade

I 100% agree ... why would the battery life be taken off the app? Huge step backwards.

Same happened to me.

no battery percentage right on the first page? And you call that an upgrade? I really hate when the engineer do think that they know what the users need ! Do we need to search for information? Do we need to click on more "buttons"? Upgrade shall make things more easy and user-friendly.

I am using a Charge 4. Like the two others Charge 2 i bought, the display died EXACTLY two years after they were put in service. This time I bought a replacement Charge 5 without realizing that it did not have a floor counter (another subject for another thread!)... Three dying exactly at two years... hummm maybe some planned obsolescence (another subject...).

no floor counter on the 5? I decided to use the 4 with a completely black display to train and the 5 for normal use and for sleeping. So I depend on the battery percentage (with the changing color) being shown right of the first page. So the latest upgrade sucks!

About using two watches? Great compromise, i thought. BUT Fitbit is not enough innovative to let us use two watch !!!!!!!!!!! I guess they don't to sell some of us more. BTW, using two watches was possible until the Charge 2 then there was another upgrade that downgraded the function abilities and the experience of the Fitbit.

The Charge 5 is in my bedroom drawer taking dust. I was anxiously waiting for the Charge 6 hoping Fitbit would correct their error and include back the altimeter but... it seems that the Charge series is getting less for exercises people... Maybe marketing and engineers should remember we buy them to track our exercises and keep motivated

This is the ONE feature that we all use, no matter which Fitbit we own. What exec thought that taking away a BASIC feature from Fitbit app would be a good idea?

Best Answer

Just a thought!
Could it be that Fitbit or to be more precise GOOGLE doesn’t want its customers to know the percentage battery charge of their devices for some reason.
I too am not impressed by this % battery charge omission. There is a need to know this information, especially when you know that for the next few days you may not have the chance to charge up your device.

Unless your screen no longer works and is so dim you can longer read anything-like on my charge 4. Switching to apple. Done.

Hi all, probably best to post in "The redesigned Fitbit app is rolling out!" topic in this forum along with the other unhappy users where you will see more fully all the issues

Unfortunately it would seem likely you are stuck with this version. If Fitbit are listening this common battery level issue could get fixed, though once something is changed it rarely gets put back.

Good advice but I fear you're right. Stuck with it. Worst version yet!

Yes swiping up on the charge 5 does work, but it so tiny that it hard to see. Esp as it is grey instead of white
