Biking on Alta is not reading active minutes

I live in the country and all we have are gravel roads.  Does anyone know how to set my fitbit Alta to recognize dirt roads?  I just rode 4 1/2 miles with mo active minutes.  The Alta only recognizes paved roads!  Any help would be appreciated!

Hello @bm97584, it's nice to have you here in the Fitbit Community! Note that biking with your Alta is a bit more complicated since the tracker is not detecting a motion of going forward while combines the impact of steps like it happen with a regular walk.

There is a feature with supported trackers called SmartTrack, that reads better this type of activity automatically logging an Outdoor Bike directly on your Dashboard.  Trackers with a heart rate monitor detect active minutes most accurately, since heart rate data allows us to better estimate caloric burn and, in turn, exercise intensity for these exercises.

If you are doing an activity that does not require steps (like cycling or swimming), or an activity that requires more than just steps (like tennis or yoga), you can use the activity log to improve the accuracy of this activity's contribution to your caloric burn. Directions to manually log your exercise can be found in the following post.

Give it a try and hope this helps!
