Blaze stuck on Today screen

My Blaze keeps getting locked on the Today screen. Left button doesn't take me out of it, nor can I restart it by holding the left and bottom right buttons. The only ways to clear it is to either put in the charger, or change the clock display via the app on my phone. Very frustrating especially when at the gym and I can't start tracking a specific exercise. Please advise.

Hello @kellzIA, good to see you are visiting the Fitbit Community one more time! Is this happening only with one type of clock face? Is your tracker unresponsive as soon you disconnect the charging cable or it takes time lock again? By any chance it shows any error on the screen when locks up?

 

Try to do the restart a few times in a row, I see you mentioned the tracker is not responsive even when you are pressing the buttons. However if your tracker does not lock up as soon you disconnect the charging cable try to do the steps for restart intermediately.

 

  1. Press and hold the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.
  3. If your tracker doesn't work normally or doesn't let you do anything, try to turn off your Blaze if is possible:
  • Swipe right to left on the home screen to the Settings screen. 
  • Tap Settings and scroll down to Shutdown.
  • Tap Shutdown and confirm.
  • To turn your Blaze back on, press any button.
  • Sync your tracker as soon as you turn it back on. If you don't, the time may be incorrect. 

Keep me posted how it goes, I'll be around in case none of the instructions resolve the issue.

  • Is this happening only with one type of clock face?  No I have changed the face various times, happens with any of them
  • Is your tracker unresponsive as soon you disconnect the charging cable or it takes time lock again? It is not completely unresponsive - I can still scroll up and down, but I can't get out of that screen, nor can I scroll left or right. The left/back button is unresponsive. If I hold down the Back and Select buttons, it only gives me the notifications prompt.
  • By any chance it shows any error on the screen when locks up? There is no error, it just displays the daily stats and only allows up/down scrolling.
  • Multiple restarts are not resolving it - the issue comes back.
  • The screen only unlocks if I put it back ON the charger, or go to the app and change the face. But it eventually goes back to that Summary screen and won't let me out of it.

I'm a software QA engineer, and this is driving me crazy.  🙂  There is definitely a defect with the Back/Select button on my tracker.

Hello @Happybison, nice to see you have joined to our Fitbit Community! My apologies for reaching you until now, it's been a few days, so I'm wondering how it goes?

 

Is the issue still persisting? What is the behavior on your tracker?

 

Let me know a few more details just to have an idea of the issue you are experiencing. Also I would like to ask you if you have tried any of the steps suggested on this thread?

I am having the same exact issue. Idont have time to keep restring the clock face from my phone which is the only thing i can do. My buttons dont work at all. I think my Blaze is defective. I am not wearing it because of this issue and my wife paid good money for this and is upset with me.

I eventually made a short video and sent it to Fitbit. They send me a new
blaze.

We were so frustrated as well. We had to go in and change the clock face for it to work right and that was just a temporary fix. It just kept getting stuck in the activity area. we had to call fit bit and video what was going on and send it to them. They will be sending him a refurbished one which I am not happy about because I didn't pay full price for a refurbished one but hopefully it will work correctly. We'll see how it goes. I recommend you go to Fitbit website and chat with them the way I did. At least I feel like we may have solved the problem.

I’m having this problem as well and it is the most annoying thing! 

 

I’m so tempted to switch to an Apple Watch except for the fact that I spent so much on the blaze only for it not to work.

Hi, The same problem has happened to my blaze. It had been switched off for3 weeks while I was on holiday and now it’s stuck. No use at all. 

I doubt I’m still in warranty, any updates on a fix ...firmware perhaps"

Ours is locked up on a clock error screen. It says to change the clock. I have tried that and nothing happens. It will not shut off and restart as well.  Advice please.

 Have tried everything listed but it doesn't help. This seems to be a major problem that should be addressed by the company.  Very frustrated as it wasn't a cheap purchase
