Bugs in FittBit on Android version 2.85

Hi Fitbit,

I have Versa watch ant after update I still notice bugs (it is not new, I noticed them in previous version as well)

1: App shows Last sync time (Synced ....) - and this time does not correspond to last sync time I get on Dashboard. Dashboard updates properly and If I ask  app to sync - I see last sync time on Dashboard, while on App it is still staying few hours/days behind/forward.

2.App still shows stupid message "Allow location to sync" while it is still performing sync without problem.

3. From time to time App shows message "Enable location to find device" while device is connected. Waiting for 5-10 min and message disappears.

4. After reboot of phone initial sync might take 5-10 minutes (looks like same timeout as bug 3), but so far after that timeout everything works fine so far.

Thanks,

1.  Last sync time:  You talk about the dashboard and the app like they are 2 totally different things.  To me the dashboard is the main page of the app.

When you say the dashboard updates properly, do you mean that it shows steps and a few other stats correctly?  If so, that does not guarantee there was an update.  Some stats can be gotten directly between phone and app via bluetooth without going back to the main database, which is required for an update.

Can I see real-time data in the Fitbit app?

Hi JohnnyRow

Thanks for useful info. Please check this screenshot form web Dashboard:

and compare it with screenshot of App:

Screenshot_20190115-074902.jpg

Current time I took App screenshot is visible in Top Left corner and it is 7.49. Dashbord shows 7:49 and App shows "Today 22:58" - and it is more than 12 hours later.

When you say Dashboard what do you mean? Fitbit website dashboard or App? What main database is?

Thanks,

I see what you are saying now.  When you say "Dashboard", I would call that the "Fitbit.com dashboard", in keeping with the Fitbit terminology of the board titles you can see by clicking on hamburger menu near top left of this page.

Whereas "app" can be Android app, iOS (apple) app, Windows 10 Microsoft store app, or even fitbit.com dashboard.  I think of "dashboard" as being the main page of any of these apps.  But I agree the terminology is confusing, and causes a lot of extra work trying to understand questions here.

Main database - Once you do a sync, the data is all stored on the Fitbit computers in "the cloud".  That's why you need internet connection (wi-fi or phone data minutes) to sync.

But getting back to your original question, I just did a sync from my phone, then looked at the fitbit.com dashboard and it agreed it had just done a sync.  I don't know why or how they disagree as they appear to in your case, but I never paid any attention to that before.

Thanks for clarification,

I had same definition in mind, but maybe not so clear in writing. I expect for app to have internal database to keep track of data and be able to display it as Real Time data. I would expect app to read data from my device even if I'm in remote location when there is no WiFi or cellular network.

Then Sync time should be last sync with cloud based storage. In my case it updates from time to time, but I have not found any specific patterns when and how.

Thanks,
