Calorie burn calculation changed?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The calorie burn estimate on my tracked exercise seems to have dropped recently, presumably with an update.

It appears to have been at the same time as the "cardio load" datum appeared, always registering zero.

Pixel watch and Pixel 7, exercise tracked in the phone app (watch gets distances wrong and eats battery), version info in picture below.

Anyone got any idea what's going on? I have reason to think the old calculations were reasonably good, because they actually tracked well with my weight loss considering calorie burn and calorie intake.

Hi, @SamBC, welcome, I'm not aware of any change to the basis of these calculations. You may be interested in reviewing this article How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity? - Fitbit Help Center and looking at the Fitbit app "Today" screen>food>TODAY-Under Budget - learn more which explains calorie total changes.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

Well, it's definitely now logging more calories if I just walk without telling it to log exercise than if I do log the walk.
