Calories burned per day: remove non exercise

My goal per day are calories burned via exercise* (this includes walking) 

*will call them Ecb

App adds non exercise burned calories** and it's messing up

**i will call them Ncb

The goals should only consist of calories burned via moving & exercise

 

So if my goal is 2500 Ecb

I need to set the goal to 4500 due to the default 2000 Ncb.

This also means i canont tell if i reached my goal because the Ncb are messing up the calculation, since more Ncb will be added as day goes so i canont tell if i reached or not my goal

If your goal is to burn calories, said goal needs to be strictly calories burned via  exercise only. Is there a way to do this on the app??

@SunsetRunner what you are talking about already has a proper name: resting calories (non-exercise) and active calories (exercise only). There was a time (I know it from stories as it was before I got my first Fitbit) Fitbit supported that but for some reason eventually merged resting and active calories into one thing. If you want to set your goal based on active calories than Fitbit isn't the right platform to do it as it lacks support for that feature.

You might want to examine you goal, and where its source is coming from.  For example, you would need some definition of "exercise". Do you mean anything above your BMR (basal Metabolic Rate) calorie burn, formal exercise sessions, or whatever.  You obviously are quoting some defined nutritional/exercise program, and it seems you are expecting Fitbit to adapt neatly to fit your particular program's definitions, terminology, and methodology.  However, there are several such systems out there with different terminologies, methods, etc.  Fitbit calculates your total calorie burn for you, and your BMR (basal metabolic rate) calorie burn, and you can figure the difference.

Just my take on it.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

You misunderstood what I wrote.  I clearly said I am using said terms. The reason for it was to avoid writing "calories burned via exercise" and "calories burned without doing exercise" each and every time. But I guess that was too much to ask for. The source of the data and the "calories burned" are provided by Fitbit itself via the Fitbit tracker I'm wearing while doing the exercises. Moving on.

I open the app -> If I press on the exercise category (x of x Days), I can clearly see a list of all the exercise entries, and if I press on the yellow line (on the chart), it will clearly tell me how many calories I burned on said day via exercise only. This is my goal. This is what my daily calories burned targeted should be looking at (talking about the Fitbit app's feedback: you hit your goal for the day). Because my goal is calories burned, not steps, not distance, and so on.

 My "exercise goal" is to burn X amount of calories per day. Fitbit app gives me the option to set such targets via the "daily activity". Sadly that option uses the total amount and NOT what is added in the exercise section ONLY.

I hope you will understand what I mean if I give examples:

If I want to do 10.000 steps, I need to do physically move 10.000 steps, right? And the app & tracker will let me know if I hit my target for said day. If I want to do the distance, again, I need to physically move, and again, the app & tracker will let me know I hit my desired distance.

However, what if I want to burn 2.000 calories via exercise?

I set my "daily activity" target for "calories" to 2000 calories

Guess what? I don't need to do any exercise. I can just take off the Fitbit tracker, just wait for the whole day to pass, since it automatically adds ~22 calories burned every 15 minutes, and I will hit said target without doing any exersise. Doing this is obviously NOT the solution and I need to complicate how much I set my "daily activity" goal for "calories". 

Just yesterday, by pressing said Yellow bar (exercise section), I can see I hit my goal of 2000 calories burned via exercise. But what is my total calories burned for this day? 4000? Nope, it's over 5000, but that's once the day finished. So while I actively do my exercise, I will never hit my target I set in "daily activity" -> "calories". This makes no sense to me.

Thanks for the clarification. 

 

I did find it very weird how, on the fitbit tracker, i can set "goal" - > calories burned, but not on the daily via app

I guess i will stick with "tracker - > set goal" for each exercise -> check app's graf for toatal active caloriis

 

Regarding change of company: I already looked at other companies. Sadly they are quiet expensive. Meaning i will pay a lot just for the more freedom, so it's a mixed decision for both.

Funny enough, i now realised that fitbit is the "cheap brand" of such smart fitness tracker (sorry, i lack the correct terms). And of course, actually improvement from company is non existing, just like similar "cheap company". You paid for the level of quality you get. (again, this is compered to other smart watch & tracker. And not vs a pedometer) 

But yeah, if my current tracker will break or lost, i won't be buying another one. No premium membership either.

Every single day, i keep remembering this but because i keep realising how unhappy i am with what i expected vs what's offered. 

It's so bad, i can't even "keep till it doesn't work" anymore.

 

I checked out garmin... So many features. Even the date format is a clear cut.  Many options. Customising. It's incredible. And no paid membership either, i still don't understand why fitbits is asking for one when they don't actually improve anything on the app.
