I have a more recent Fitbit app version than the Playstore one

Hi,

My version is more recent than the one in the Playstore. I've version 3.84.1 and the one available right now is 3.83.1.

Should I keep it, or will I lose the data recorded with that version?

Thanks

Hello,

If you have a more recent version of the app installed on your device compared to the one available on the Play Store, it's generally recommended to keep the version you have. However, it's important to note that using a version of the app that is not from the official app store may come with certain risks, such as potential security vulnerabilities or compatibility issues. PayMyDoctor

Regarding your data, it's unlikely that updating the app would result in any loss of recorded data. Most app updates are designed to be backward compatible, meaning they should be able to work with previously recorded data. However, to be on the safe side, it's always a good practice to regularly back up your data to ensure you have a copy in case of any unforeseen issues.

Hi @fxdfxd - it is possible that a version that is released is withdrawn to be replaced by a newer version later. You may have picked up such a version.

Anything in the Playstore should be safe, and you are not going to lose data so keep it and upgrade when the next version comes.

@Guy_ @Evan21 Thank you very much for your input. That all makes sense. Yes recently different app versions have been released.

@fxdfxd Nice to see you again in the forums. Thanks for your concern regarding the Fitbit app version on your device. Recently many version of the app have been launched. Usually they are launched in waves for testing. I assume you may have gotten the latest version and then it was pulled back after testing. This does not affect your data and you will not lose any of it by reverting to another version. Your data is stored in our servers and not your phone.
