I realised the other day, that whilst sitting at my desk I am not moving about, so not earning calories. Yet sat at the computer doing research,an essay or editing photographs all takes much brain power and consequently makes me hungry or in need of calorific input. Is there a way of measuring what we are using and Fitbit calculating what has been burnt & earnt ☺ Hi everyone 🙋

Fitbit does this automatically. As well as tracking the calories you burn through activity it also measures your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn keeping your body alive, including keeping the brain working. It calculates them from your profile settings for age, height, weight etc so you don't even have to be wearing your fitbit to get them. There's more information on this here:

I'm afraid whether your brain is having a snooze or working its socks off, fitbit will calculate the same calorie burn. You will get some calorie burn though so break out the biscuits!

How do you feel about meditation and books that help you think better?

Brain activity consumes a small number of calories, so you don't have to worry about it. You want to eat because the body needs a recharge for the organs. The only thing that feeds your brain is glucose. That is, if you ate a sweet, then for a while, your brain works in an enhanced mode. Yes, there are small percentages there, but they still exist. I remember there was a time when I was depressed and could not almost move. Although I ate properly, I still had no strength for anything. It helped me read books about the mind, brain dump journal , which I remember very much, and meditation. Meditation is the key to solving all problems.
