Can't edit treadmill distance

When I run on the treadmill and edit the distance, it will not save the edited distance.

I run for 20 minutes, covering 2.38 miles on the treadmill, but the Fitbit says I've run 1.98. When I edit it, it reverts either to 1.23 or back to 1.98.

@Duff1011  Distance on a treadmill is always problematic.  Your treadmill measures distance using the belt distance and your Fitbit uses a steps x stride length distance.  But I can help you improve your distance.  The treadmill shortcut uses your walking stride length.  When you run on a treadmill, you should use the Run shortcut with GPS off.  Your Fitbit will use your running stride length.  If you mix running and walking or add inclines, there is no good solution.

With respect to editing tracked distance, I don't understand why this option is available in your Edit Details page.  Fitbit doesn't let you edit these details.  I know other Android users have complained about this.  The iOS version only lets you edit the start and stop time.

@DianeDeR  I hope these suggestions help you, too.  Keep in mind that the treadmill distance can be off, too, especially if the equipment isn't maintained.

You have never been able to edit distance for auto-detected exercises and exercises you start from your Fitbit. You cannot edit , but you can delete the exercise you want to edit, and log the exercise manually.

I understand that, but it's rather ridiculous. It should let you edit the distance so it's accurate for those who like to keep track. It would be a simple fix.

And how many would cheat their way to the 100.000 Steps in a day badge?

Probably  none? Plus, who cares? It's all about tracking our own distances. I don't care what other people do, only what I do. But not tracking nearly 1/2 a mile on one single run adds up when I'm trying to track my running distance.

Ridiculous I can’t add actual miles on a treadmill

Thank you! I'll give this a try today.  I'll have to figure out how to set it to run with the gps off, but I'll look into that now. I appreciate it!

@Duff1011  I looked at your public profile, but all your posts are in the Android app forum.  Please check out this Help article and jump to: How do I turn on GPS on my Fitbit device?

I hope this gets you closer, but it will never be perfect.

I tried it with my gps off. It was still off by nearly 1/2 a mile on a 3 mile run. Oh well. I just wish we could edit the distance to make it accurate.
