Please make sure that your Fitbit App is up to date. Do you receive any error message? Or does it only bring you back without a warning? This could be related to the Google website granting permission. I recommend you take a look at the following article: Share access to your Google Account with a third-party.
Best AnswerThe fitbit app asks me to " go to health connect settings and allow fitbit access" so i do that and tap the fitbit icon and sends me back to the fitbit app.
There are no issues connecting to other apps like google fit, lifesum and Samsung health

@Sjoeppe Thanks for the swift reply and the explanation. Please try clearing the cache storage of the Fitbit app on your smartphone. Do not worry, no data will be lost. Then log yourself back in and try connecting Health Connect again. We shall see if other users are experiencing the same. Thanks again for reporting this.
