My father and I use Android phone. We have tried to send friend request to each other but we didn't receive any message although we turned on the notification.

Have you both switched over to a Google login? This is not the same as logging in with a Google address. 

For a friend request to work, you both need to be logged in the same way. Either an email or Google login. If you haven't you have until February 2nd of 2026.
