Can't set up notifications

Any help appreciated. I can't set up notifications from WhatsApp or Messages to display on my Fitbit inspire 3.  It keeps saying phone needs a restart to enable notifications but I restart, reboot and same message remains

Please on you cell phone, go to the settings> Apps> Fitbit App. 
Clear cache. 
On the battery consuption setting make sure that the Fitbit app is allowed to run on the background. 

After selecting the apps to send the notifications, do you still see the error message?
Have you tried syncing the Inspire 3 when the message appears?

Thanks for your help. I seem to be getting message notifications now, not calls and the Fitbit doesn't vibrate to notify me but the messages are there when I go in and check. Vibrate is ticked in notifications.
Not a big deal but it would be handy to have it vibrate/sound to tell me there is a notification.

@Carolineeee , Thank you for your reply and confirmation. 

Please make sure that Don't Disturb (DnD) mode is off on the Inspire 3. 
Swipe down to see the quick settings. 
There verify that the Inspire 3 is on wrist mode too. 
Also , on your phone, it shouldn't  be on silence mode.
