Challenge steps not updating accurately

I'm wondering why my challenge steps are less than my steps for the day. Right now the challenge just "updated" and added a couple thousand steps to my total, but it didn't add everything. I'm at 7,000 for the day but the challenge says 6,500. It's a little thing, but annoying because I'm so close to one of my friends.

Hey hey hey @sailingpj @CaraHope welcome to our Community! I noticed @SteveH provided great information regarding this matter. Smiley WinkI'd like you to know that another possible reason for your steps not updating correctly can be that you're in a different timezone than the challenge owner and also would like you to wait 15 minutes after syncing your Fitbit data to see if your challenge updates. Also, having strava connected can affect your data since it is a 3rd party app.

Hope this helps, let me know the outcome! Cat Wink

The most common cause of this is that only steps directly tracked by the fitbit count towards challenges. Any steps resulting from a manually logged activity, use of your phone's GPS tracking, or from 3rd party apps do not count. Could this be the issue here?

Mine is doing the same. It's not properly updating steps in challenges from dashboard. It's fine in one challenge but have 1000 steps less in the other 2 challenges! I haven't used any third party tracker and no-one is in a different time zone! I've tried logging out/ re-installing app and re-setting phone but it is still the same. It's just really annoying!

It could be that I have strava connected, but I ran for 3.5 miles and was wearing my fitbit so it tracked the run. I just don't know where the 500 steps could be from.

Hi, the challenge owner is not in a different time zone, no-one else in the challenge has a problem either. It has been 2 days now and it has still not updated. It's adding my steps now but it is less than it should be. It's showing the correct amount of steps in one challenge and not in 2 others with different people.

I was told by Chris in Customer Support, "I'm sorry to say that this is a known issue right now and our engineers are working on a fix in the soonest possible time".  Now, why is it that no one can "at least" update my challenge to reflect the correct steps.  I'm 1000 steps behind the lead person when I should have 1200 steps more.  How long should it take to resolve this "known" issue?  The challenge is what keeps me going.  When I'm cheated (I know that is a strong word, but that's what it feels like) it becomes discouraging.

Is there an update with the issue of steps not updating in Challenges? I've reinstalled. I have my steps on My Fitness Pal it's not updating there either. My mine just started this morning after I noticed the 250 per hour feature.

A warm welcome to our new friend @Lisacpt thanks for stopping by! Robot HappyPlease know that any activity tracked through any third-party app will be not included in your challenge total so maybe this is why you're not seeing all your steps reflected on your totals.

It wasn't tracked by another app. My dashboard from yesterday and day do not add up. I'm missing about 5k steps from yesterday. I reinstalled both app and even my Charge HR to see if it would fix it. I know not to use 3rd party for steps and exercise. I use MFP for tracking food only. Should I contact customer service or forget about it? It's working accurately today but my Challenge steps aren't accurate.

This is a glitch. I was told that they were working on it. My solution?? I
don't participate in the challenges because I am being cheated daily out of
steps. My steps are not accurately counted in the weekly challenges. They
don't know when it will be fixed. I guess that not enough people are
complaining about it. It's exasperating. Furthermore, I'm sick of seeing
these moderators assume you at using a third party app when it's the
FITBIT.

I'm disappointed that the mediator didn't explain. I spent time
reinstalling and paying attention. I contacted customer service so I'm sure
they will tell me about the glitch. I belong to several groups. I will
share. I heard others complain and then they quit the challenge. Now I
know. Thanks!

I am also having this issue. The 250 + steps feature appeared on my Dashboard (Samsung Galaxy 7) earlier this week and today I noticed that my steps in challenges were not being updated. Please help!

I contacted customer service and they gave me a list of solutions but I replied that none of it worked.

I'm still having problems. I have 0 active minutes on my Dashboard while my Fitbit app auto recognized a 34:37 minute walk, and I have 5.06 miles and 11,930 steps so far. Also the 250 steps per hour was only accurate on Tuesday March 5th.  Here are my steps for the week so far  58575-> 11,941; 9,391; 21,488; 15,766. In my Workweek Challenge with my neighbors my steps are 37,740.  I'm convinced something is wrong with the app on my Samsung Galaxy 5. Yes everything is up-to-date. Now what can be done to fix this?

Thanks.

Well, it must be ALL apps because I have an IPHONE and I have the same
issues. This is bogus and NOT fun.

They just provide a static answer that we are working on it.    The former fitbit app worked just fine and was able to be customized by the user.  Why is fitbit doing this to its customers??
