Charge 2 doesn't sync and notifications won't remove

Not sure what's going on, for the last couple of hours I can't synch my charge 2 to my android 5 phone using app version 3.4.1.

I've had device not found, but Bluetooth knows it's there. The 'fitbit is down for maintenance' lie.  Sometimes the pull down to synch says it's synched but that's a lie too.

I've reinstalled the app, turned the phone off and obviously turned the Bluetooth on and off.  All to no avail.

As the version of the app that I am using is not subject to updates what have fitbit done?

The phone screen updates from the tracker but it isn't synching to fitbits servers.

Even my trusty version 2.63 on my Kindle is being tetchy, but it did eventually transfer the data.

This is just getting more and more tedious.

I would also like to know why my best achievements shown on the on-line dashboard are wrong and date back to 2016 and 2017. Added to this I have never received any response to my requests as to why I have a about a years worth of notifications from 2017 to 2018 that are sitting there after having appeared with this new layout.

The wretched things won't go away. So they are obviously not subject to your supposed 30 day rolling deletion programme.

Any chance of introducing some heavy duty footwear to some posteriors?

Hi @Lilbiddy. It's good to see you here in the Forums. I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for sharing detailed information about your Charge 2. You've done a good job with the troubleshooting steps and I'm sorry that you're having this experience when trying to sync your tracker. As you may know, our team optimized the Fitbit app to work with certain phones and tablets that appear in the compatible devices list based on the requirements of each model. They must meet the minimum requirements (Android 7.0 or higher and Bluetooth 4.0) so all the features, such as syncing, can work correctly.

Since the Fitbit app isn't updated to the most current version due the Android version running on your phone, we cannot guarantee that it'll always sync correctly. For this reason, we recommend to use another compatible device or a Windows 10 computer with built Bluetooth so you can sync and update your information. You can find more details about how to sync with Windows 10 here.

See you around.

Hi @LizzyFitbit, I thought the point of not having further updates for older android versions was to sort of freeze it at that point.  That being said whatever was going on at fitbit's end seems to have corrected itself and I can synch on both 2.63 and 3.4.1.

I would still like answers to the other problems that I mentioned. The ancient notifications and the best achievements errors.  I have noticed that other users are also affected by these but no answers have been given.

Can you enlighten us?

Hi @Lilbiddy. It's always good to see you here. I'm sorry for the delay.

Thanks for keeping me updated, as well for your efforts while working on this. I'm glad that the syncing process is now working on the 3.4.1 version, and now you can keep your details updated. About your other inquires, I'm sorry for not addressing them before and let me help you with that. About the best achievements being wrong on fitbit.com dashboard, do you mean that they don't match with the ones showing on the app? Or do you mean that you're not longer receiving them?

Now, in regards to the old notifications, while currently there isn't an option to manually delete them they'll be removed either after 30 days or when receiving new notifications (cheers from your friends, friends request or Feed activity). I understand how this affects you, our team has received feedback from our members and I'm sure they'll continue working to improve this section.

I'll be around, keep me posted.

Hi @LizzyFitbit, as far as I know my best achievements stats are only available in the on-line profile on the fitbit.com dashboard. The ones displayed for me date from my first month of owning my fitbit. I have badges that are for greater amounts of steps and floors than the figures shown in these stats. Other users have mentioned this in the fitbit.com forum.

With reference to the notifications, as I keep on saying, they do NOT go away after 30 days. I have had 2 friend requests that have come and gone at the head of this list, but these old ones persist. They are unaffected by the rolling deletion programme. I think you can agree that August 2017 is more than 30 days ago. They appeared with the version 3 of this app and that was also more than 30 days ago. As there are almost a years worth of them they are obviously not subject to your 30 day rule or there would only be 30 days of them showing. THEY DO NOT GO AWAY.  Even with the uninstalling and reinstalling of the app THEY ARE STILL THERE. They are all of the type that is no longer displayed/listed under notifications,  the nearly there, steps goal met, overachiever etc. so they shouldn't be displayed in any case. I would just like to get rid of them once and for all.

Back at square one again with the synching problems. If you do manage to synch it only lasts a minute and you're back to tracker not found etc.

Still no hint of a whisper on the breeze about the other problems.

Seems the synching problems are mainly caused whenever fitbit starts rolling out an update. That said the connections still don't last long.

Still silence about the ancient notifications.

Now I have to restart my phone to get the app to synch to fitbit servers.

Still waiting on the notifications problem.
