Welcome to the Forums @Jennifer126.

Thanks for trying to get the Fitbit to sync to your phone on your own.

This might be happening because the J7v is not part of the supported devices list. This means that the app has not been fully optimized to work with that phone.

As long as it fulfills the minimum requirements, Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4.0, there is a possibility that it can work but we cannot guarantee it. Some users of unsupported devices have mentioned that following these steps helps with the syncing.

If none of the above works, you could try to use a computer or another mobile device to try and sync your Fitbit to your account. Click here to get instructions on how to sync with other devices.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I saw that my cell was not on the list but it worked fine and sent text and calls for 1-1/2 yrs then stopped .  If that were the problem then it would never have been able to...just recently stopped

I have a Samsung A6, which is on the list, and my Charge2 hasn't sync'd in more than 24 hours, no matter how often I try. It did fine before, for a year.

The phone picked up some data (number of steps, heart rate) briefly a couple of times, but then stopped updating. Forcing sync results in a "Sync error, please try again" message.

Update:

after trying half a dozen of things, like re-installing the app and restarting the Charge2, I decided to go one step further and un-pair and re-pair my Charge2. But when I let my phone search for BT devices it can't find my device (other devices can be found fine). Same on my PC.

I'm beginning to believe that my device is broken. Can somebody from Fitbit please contact me on this?
