Charge 2 stops syncing to phone after installing app on iPad

My Charge 2 have been syncing to my HTC One m8 for about a year

About a week ago I installed the Fitbit app on my iPad. The iPad asked if it could pair to the tracker

I thought that I selected "no" but the next time I opened the app, it did a full sync.

Now it won't sync to my HTC phone (Android 4.2)

I get a notification regularly on my phone saying Fitbit Sync Service - Last sync ...

I have All day sync selected on the phone

The tracker is charged

So far I have:

restarted the Charge 2 several times

turned off and on my phone's Bluetooth service several times

Rebooted the phone

I removed and re-installed the Fitbit app on my phone

I've turned iPad's Bluetooth off

I've turned the iPad completely off while I tried various options

I tried these things in the same house as the iPad and several miles away with the same result

Is the Charge 2 only going to sync to one device at a time?

Welcome to the Forums @Band_man.

I apologize for the delay in my response.

This might be happening is that the HTC m8 is not part of the supported devices list. This means that the app has not been fully optimized to work with that phone.

As long as it fulfills the minimum requirements, Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4.0, there is a possibility that it can work but we cannot guarantee it. Some users of unsupported devices have mentioned that following these steps helps with the syncing.

If none of the above works, you could try to use a computer or another mobile device to try and sync your Fitbit to your account. Click here to get instructions on how to sync with other devices.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

My HTC phone is one the approved list and it has been synching for over 3 years to a Flex and 2 different Charge 2 trackers. The phone's Bluetooth connection is still working to other devices such as my wireless headset and my car's Bluetooth system. So I believe that the problem is in the tracker not the phone.

How many different devices can you set up to communicate with the Charge 2?

Unless someone has a better idea,  the next thing might be to do a factory reset on the tracker and delete the ipad app.

Over the weekend, I deleted the Bluetooth pairing on my HTC phone and immediately I got my first sync from that phone in a couple of weeks. The ipad is still paired. So now I am getting a data sync even though my phone doesn't show the Charge 2 as a paired Bluetooth device. But now, even though I an getting data, I don't get any phone messages on the Charge 2. Do I have to delete the tracker from my account and add it back?

I just checked my phone again and the Charge 2 is now listed as a paired device

I went and took all the permissions away from the android app and then set them back (location, SMS and telephone) and I just got a telephone notification but no SMS messages or calendar notifications are getting through

Hello @Band_man.

I apologize for the delay in my response.

Thanks for sharing all those details on how it is working.

In regards to the messages and the calendar notifications, I'd like to ask what app are you using for those. Are you using the phone's default apps or are you using other apps? Did you make sure to select the apps on the Fitbit app's notifications settings?

Look forward to your reply.

I'm using Google Calendar and the native android phone and messaging apps.

All worked well for over a year but now it is just the phone ringing notification that works.

I did select those permissions in the Fitbit app. I de-selected them all and then re-selected them all.

Hello @Band_man.

I apologize for the delay in my response. Thanks for reaching back with those details.

Let's try to restart the whole connection from scratch, completely:

  1. Remove the Fitbit from both your phone and the iPad's Bluetooth connection.
  2. Then restart the phone and turn the Bluetooth off in your iPad.
  3. Run the set up again and set notifications once again.

Look forward to your reply.
