Charge 3 GPS connection to phone

My charge 3 never stays connected to my phones GPS.  As soon as I turn the screen off it loses the phone. Unlock the phone and it sometimes comes back. It's basically useless for tracking runs or bike rides.

I have the same issue wasn't as bad until I did the firmware update. I found that if I have the app open then start the activity from the Fitbit it pretty well stays connected but if I closed the app to send a text or something it vibrates and looses the gps connection.
