Charge 3 doesn't sync with Huawei Honor 6X

Hi all,

I have always had problems syncing my tracker (Charge 2/3) with my Huawei Honor 6x.  My Charge 2 stopped working from the moment I first sync'd with my Huawei phone.  I have just purchased a new Charge 3 (now that it's on the supported device list I was hoping the problems would be fixed) but the issues with sync persist.

My charge 3 appeared only once in the Bluetooth device list - never again.  The fitbit app seems unable to find the tracker and getting it to sync has involved restarting my Bluetooth, my phone, the tracker and force closing and restarting the app.

However, I have just discovered that if I go into my Bluetooth menu on my phone and enable visibility the sync will work (more often than not) after a limited number of refreshes (1 - 5).  This had led me to make my phone permanently visible to all Bluetooth devices (not the best solution).

This solution does not appear to fix the connection between my tracker and my phone - my tracker still does not appear in the Bluetooth device list and the tracker still seems unable to connect to my phones GPS (and yes, GPS access is enabled) - but it does allow me to sync my tracker with the app.

The GPS issue is a strange one. My tracker does show some distance covered (1 - 3 miles a day) but does not seem to show MPH or distance when I record my bike rides. I actually cover about 10 - 15 miles a day but this is never shown.

To make matters worse, when I log into the fitbit web site it shows my (22 minute) rides  but never shows any distance or syncs the exercise to my Strava app (and yes, i have linked the accounts via strava.fitbit.com) - this is very frustrating to say the least!

From reading other posts regarding Android OS + Charge 3 + Huawei phones / Bluetooth it is unclear where the problem really lies.

Is this a problem with my phone? Because all other Bluetooth devices seem to work fine.  Is this a problem with the Charge 3? Because it will sync with my Windows PC and is visible on other phones but can't be seen by my Android / Huawei device.  Maybe the problem is the Android OS? No, wait a moment, my Charge 2 was originally connected to a Samsung Galaxy S7 running Android and I never had any problems with sync, GPS or anything!

I am starting to think this is one of those questions like "what's the meaning of life" - everyone has an opinion but nobody really knows the answer, and the people who should (yes, i'm talking to you Fit bit support) are not giving anything away.

I am now having to conciser purchasing a new phone - it's either that or I just accept the fact that I just paid £150 for a new watch!  Any chance of some cash toward a new phone fit bit support? No, didn't think so!

Hi @kr0n1c. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for taking the time to share the issues experienced with your Charge 3, as well for the research that you did prior posting. I've confirmed that your Huawei Honor 6X phone is in fact a supported device, and since you're having issues to sync, let me know if the Fitbit app is updated? Also, do you see an error message when trying to sync? If you've not done so, I'd recommend to try the following:

  1. Remove any device from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Turn off other Bluetooth connections that aren't in use.
  3. Force stop the Fitbit app within your phone's settings.
  4. Reboot your phone and restart your Charge 3.
  5. Open the Fitbit app, tap on the profile's icon > Charge 3.
  6. Tap on sync now. Once that is done, tap on notifications to configure them.

In regards to your GPS activities, make sure of the following:

  • GPS can continue tracking while your phone is locked.
  • Location services are enabled within your privacy settings.
  • You have a strong Internet signal (Mobile Data) during the run.
  • The Fitbit app is allowed to run on the background.

About Strava, please note that only GPS activities will sync from Fitbit to Strava. If this isn't happening, please reconnect Fitbit with Strava:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap on your profile's picture.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Manage Data > Manage 3rd Party Apps.
  3. Log in to your Fitbit account if requested.
  4. Tap revoke access to disconnect the Strava app from Fitbit account.
  5. Then connect both accounts one more time.

Give these steps a try and let me know the outcome.
