I'm on my third Fitbit and all went defected at about a year and a half. Fitbit is doing something nefarious with their updates in my opinion. Let's get the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection (www.ftc.gov) involved by filing our legitimate complaints with them. Enough is enough!
