When you look at friends list, there is a cumulative # steps. How is this calculated . Is this a weekly total ? What day of the week does it start on? I can't figure out the pattern.

That is steps for the last 7 days, including today.  It includes the previous 6 full days, plus so far today.  It will keep gradually increasing throughout the day, then drop suddenly at midnight when it drop the oldest day and start including steps for this day.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
