Comparing Watch to Phone Fitbit app

I have a Pixel 3 watch and a Pixel 9 Pro Android phone.  Today i did two workouts.  I did a 2 km walk and biked 25km.  Both workouts were initiated and ended from the watch itself.  I also had a lot of separate step activity during the day. 

The stats from my watch                  from Fitbit Premium app

Steps 7,972                                      18,383

Distance 6.01 km                             10.98 km   

Calories 2,540                                   2,543

I have synced a number of time but there is no correlation except for Calories.   I am perplexed.  I am new to Fitbit. Both watch and phone are new.

There is currently an issue on the Fitbit side that affects our ability to see our exercise data in the Fitbit app as well as step syncing. The team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. However, I haven't seen a timeline for the fix.

For now, there isn't any troubleshooting that we can do on our side. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before the problem is fixed. The resolution can't come soon enough for all of us.
