Recently, I'm getting this persistent notification saying 'Connected GPS is running'. It wasn't there before and it's very annoying. Location permission is set to always allow.

phone : Google Pixel 3, Android 10 latest

Device : Fitbit Inspire HR

Location permission is set to always allow.

Hi @asiddiqui, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I understand how frustrating this matter can be for you.

To further investigate, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? In the meantime I receive your answers, please try the following steps and let me know if the issue persists:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Uninstall the app from your mobile device.
  3. Reboot your mobile device.
  4. Reinstall the Fitbit app.
  5. Login using your account credentials.

Let me know if the issue persists and if you have any additional questions.

I tried all of the above multiple times as well as trying location only with app running or all the time, with phone location on or off with inspire hr phone location on or off. The notification would still not go away. I've been taking to uninstalling the app every day so that my battery life is more than three hours. I did seem to find a workaround which was setting location to only when app is in use and then turning off the notification for "Sync Service" in my apps and notification settings. It's been about 10 minutes and my battery hasn't drained 3% so I'm going to presume this is a workaround.

Started: about 2.5 weeks ago

Phone: Google Pixel 3a

Fitbit: Inspire HR

System: Android 10

App version: 3.25 (I think? What ever it is on July 21st 2020 as I just reinstalled it again this morning)

It started randomly, I don't do any "exercises" I simply walk throughout the day and like to use it to get my notifications and see how many steps/miles I walk. I have never ran/biked etc so this didn't pop up during/after an exercise, it simply started one morning and drained my battery (which lasts 30 hours) in 5.

I guess I'll see if my battery holds up today, if so this seems like the best temporary solution.

so I have a Google Pixel 3A and a Charge 3 and I just started getting the same messages in the last couple of days.  I have not tried anything much to get rid of the messages, but my battery is also running down faster.  did your fix work long term?

I barely even remember having this issue so it must have. It potentially could have been in relation to an update that happened and soon got fixed, but I'm pretty sure what I did here was the actual solution. I hope it works for you!

I dont remember doing something that fixed the issue. But it went away. Not sure if it was the updates or me changing phone (still pixel 3) did the trick.

Thanks, I have gps location turned off entirely right now and everything is fine.

I may wait a couple of more days before enabling it again.
