Counting Floors I haven't climbed

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My charge2 counted 56 floors today for me, I have only taken 3 floors today.  It has been wonky like this for 4 days since I got back from my trip.  Could airport security messed it up? I have reset it several times.

Welcome to the Forums @OneL.

Thanks for trying the restarts!

You can read more about the way floors are recognized on this article. Going by what it says in there, there are some reasons why this could be happening:

  • Sudden changes in temperature, like going outside when inside is cold, or the other way around, can cause the Fitbit to think that you have gone up the floors.
  • Going inside of a car or outside causes a change in air pressure. Driving could also cause this.

Having said that, you could negate the floors by manually logging a driving activity for the time periods where you got lots of floors.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Tried putting the fitbit into dry rice to pull moisture out.  Seemed to work for a day.  Now having same issue.  Haven't yet figured out how to log driving events.

Hello @OneL.

Thanks for the update.

In regards to the driving activity. Here are the steps:

  1. From the fitbit.com dashboard, click the  Log tab.
  2. Click the Activities tab.
  3. Under Log Activities, type in Driving. Click on the Driving option that will show below the text field as a suggestion.
  4. Enter the date, duration, and start time.
  5. Click Log. Your steps, floors, and calories burned will decrease for the time period you specified.

I hope that this helps out!

Any further suggestions for stopping the extra floor counting?

Hello @OneL.

Given the way the floors are tracked, there isn't much that could be done. If you have wear long sleeves or jackets/coats you could try wearing the Fitbit under the sleeves so that the Fitbit has a harder time tracking the air pressure.

Then there is something wrong with my charge2. It had been working fine
before my trip. I have only had this since March od this year. I will be
calling to find out about fixing it.
