Counting steps while driving versa

I drive a school bus. I have over 4000 steps, but I have barely left my seat. 300 is probably how many I actually have. Oh and I have climbed 40 flights of stairs. My charge 2 gave me a few steps, but nothing like this .I've had it since Friday . Saturday and Sunday were accurate. Monday and today terrible. Yesterday I had 8000 steps driving. I'm about to return it.

Hi, @Skamom18! Fitbit doesn't have any way to tell if you're driving or not. If you're in a vehicle that vibrates a fair amount, it will register as steps. There are a couple ways around this. You can plug it into a charger while you are driving or you can create the manual activity "driving" to overwrite steps, calories, etc for the time period you are driving. Since you're driving on a regular basis, you might want to look into something like the 3rd party app "DriveBit," which you can activate while you're driving and will create that activity automatically for you. Best of luck!

Good afternoon,

I did a search in both Google Play Store & Apples site and found the APP. Here is the APP description:

DriveBit is a simple application used to help in logging commutes to FitBit.com.

FitBit devices may misinterpret driving as steps and the only current workaround is to log the driving time as a driving activity on the FitBit site or via your mobile device. This can be an irritating task to have to repeat.

DriveBit is here to help. Simply launch the application, tap start when you start your commute and tap stop when you finish your commute. That's it! We'll keep track of how long the drive was and when it started and post the driving activity for you.

Settings allow you to select any of the transportation activity types or create your own activity type that you'd like to track.

DriveBit plugs into Locale and Tasker to allow you to start and stop drives based on any number of inputs (location, time, Wifi connection, etc.).

Drive bit also offers widgets to add to your home screen or lock screen for easy recording of your commutes.

Reasons for needed permissions:
- Full network access: This is so we can post your activities to FitBit.
- View network connections: This is so we figure out the best time to retry when a post fails.

I do hope you can find and it helps solve the issue.
