I'm a bit confused about the daily calorie burn goal. I've tried to research it but I feel even more confused after doing that! I've only had my fitbit a couple of days and feel my calorie burn goal is really high. I'm meeting all my other daily targets but the calorie goal seems totally unachievable. From my research (please correct me if I'm wrong) it seemed you're supposed to times your BMR by your effort level...
BMR - 1452
Effort level - 1.3
Total calories that should be burned- 1888
They were the results I got but my fitbit has an automatic goal of 2374? I'm just wondering if I have miscalculated or if my fitbit has set my goal too high?

I have not heard of that calculation for working out your default goal. I have always wondered but up to now I have only seen fitbit's generic statement that it's based on an average person. I would be interested in your source for that info (so that I can reference it in future posts).
The default setting for the calorie burn goal (however it's calculated) has generally been set too high for many people and there are lots of people (myself included) that found it to be difficult to meet most days.
Given that we don't know for sure where it gets the number from I just lowered mine to a point where it made more sense. Unfortunately, this was just as arbitrary.
There is a better solution though. If you are prepared to log your food into fitbit then you can set up a food plan which makes that calorie burn goal redundant. Rather than have a fixed, random, calorie goal it compares your calories in and out and uses your weigh goal to determine how much you can eat or how much you need to burn. There's a help file on this if you might be interested:

I got it from a reply to the tread posted above. I have now done the food plan, thank you for that. However as my calorie burn goal is still a goal to be achieved it annoys me that that is the only one never fulfilled, even if it is now void. But I dont want to just manually change it as I feel it won't be meaningful anymore.

Inputting your food doesn't help much because it constantly changes your allowance throughout the day as you burn calories. It's driving me mad, before I had my evening meal it said I had eaten too much but then by the time I finished shopping it said I needed to eat 500 more calories 🙄 I had only eaten about 800 when it said I was over and I had already done a workout.
