Dark Mode for the App

The white background in the current app design can be problematic when I'm out exercising at night.  Please consider adding an option for the app to have a "Dark Mode" with lighter text on a dark background.

Mjh2114,

Are you running Android 10 on your Mate 20 pro?

I got dark mode on my Huawei P30 Pro, but I was running Android 10.  I have since moved to a Samsung S20 running Android 10 and it works there as well.Screenshot_20200610-151240_Settings.jpg

I've seen this same bog standard, noncommittal, and extremely unhelpful reply from your Fitbit staff or "Alum" for years. If you're NOT going to have an option for dark mode, even though there are a great number of people clamouring for one, then just say so. People have been asking for you guys for 5++ YEARS for it. Is it really fair on the Fitbit community for you not to even have a proper reply for us? Just let us know that you don't want to do it, why string us along with pathetic responses? Is it difficult? Have we not given you guys enough time? What is it?

P.s And NO I don't have android 10, so I can't force dark mode in things that don't have the option.

I've been watching this thread for several years, waiting for Dark Mode support as I would check my sleep settings at night and the Fitbit app is VERY BRIGHT, I have to apologize to my spouse. So anyway, I eventually moved on to a competitor that starts with a G, supports dark mode just fine, and finally works great at sleep tracking -- which was one area that Fitbit shines as well. (literally, and too brightly).

Thank you for the reply, I will have to check it out

Holy moly, just moved from Garmin back to Fitbit and was baffled that the App doesn't have Dark mode option. Come on, it's 2021, it can't be that hard, please release it.

Fitbit doesnt listen to feedback. I wont be buying another one.

This is a "response" but it is NOT an "answer."  Why is this marked as resolved or answered when it clearly is not?

Best Answer

Totally agree this is not answered. Dark mode is standard in must major apps now and it's really needed in Fitbit. Very disappointing response from them.

Best Answer

I find it hard to believe that it's three years and counting since this was requested and this still hasn't been implemented. Both Android and iOS have made it extremely easy to let the system automatically control this from a development standpoint.

Overall just more disappointment added to the growing list. The Sense will be my first and last Fitbit device.

I think every other health app has a dark mode option.  What is happening with all of the Premium subscription dollars?  Apps without fees have dark mode.

Welcome, @s6original. It's great to see you around.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and comments, we're always striving to improve our services offered. I see where your frustration is coming from. Be sure that your comments won't be unnoticed as we're always implementing features based on user's feedback. If your phone has a Dark Mode, you can use it with the Fitbit app.

That's the same response as every other moderator (or employee?) From Fitbit/Google gives. You guys are quite obviously NOT listening to us. Nearly every app has a "dark mode" function, WITHOUT having to resort to forcing "dark mode" though the actual phone settings. Maybe we'll have a "dark mode" in 20-30 years?

That response is completely INACCURATE!

NOT all phone that have dark mode allow you to use the back-end developers options to force dark mode on Apps that do not allow it.  Fitbit does not even need to build out a dark mode option of their own - they just have to quit blocking the App from accepting the phone's default.  Where are all of those Premium fee dollars going to?  Where's all the money from replace equipment purchases occurring due to Fitbit intentionally bricking existing functioning devices with bad updates...???   See Fitbit's response to customer issues... @Plunky I don't want to disappoint you but I've never seen a suggestion marked as "currently not planned" becoming "released". The very same fact that when they label it "not currently planned" they close it for comments says everything.

I would be glad to be proven wrong.

@Plunky @Guitarplayer Nice to see you guys here in the forums again.

@Guitarplayer Thanks for your input. @Plunky Thanks for the direct link to the feature suggestion. I will upvote it too. Even though its status is "currently not planned" it does not harm us to upvote it to show interest in this feature.

Have a nice day!
