Dashboard Stepcount Question

I just started using my fitbit 2 the step counter goes up just by moving my arm.any suggestions?

Just check you have "wrist placement" and "handedness" set right".

Other than that, assuming you are using a wrist monitor, steps are detected by arm movement. Fitbit incorporates filters to try to figure out which movements are arm swings accompanying steps and which are just arm movements, but cannot be totally accurate. Many people figure over the course of a day, it's not a big factor and just forget about it.  If you are doing an activity that you know will give you many extra steps, you can temporarily switch wrists or put it in a pocket, where it might be more accurate for steps but will no get heart rate data, depending on which device.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
