Device syncing several times during the day

Hi.

I have a charge 3 and an android app.

I don't like my Fitbit to sync all day, I like to surprise my competitors with my steps lol!

There used to be a little on/off button for all day sync which now just says 'sync now'.

I tried turning off the always allowed button in advanced settings.

I'd rather not have my bluetooth off all the time cos I use it for other things.

Just seems a bit annoying that I cant control the syncing.

There must be a way surely!!!

Thanks.

Hi @Melissaw83, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for all the details that were shared. Let me share with you that, to improve your experience with notifications, syncing, and firmware updates, we removed the option to turn off all-day sync from the Fitbit app on Android phones. However, when your phone is near your Fitbit device with Bluetooth turned on, it periodically syncs with the Fitbit app to update your stats and download available firmware updates. That said, I recommend you to turn off your mobile device's Bluetooth if you do not want to sync your Fitbit device.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you for your reply.
I guess I have no option that to put up with it syncing then, I dont want
to turn my bluetooth off all day.
Perhaps this should be changed to suit all users needs as we should have
some choice in this.

Thank you, the reason I want my bluetooth on is cos that's how I get my
notifications sent to my Fitbit! So I have to choose between not syncing or
getting my messages on my watch!
I'm sure it would be appreciated by many if this could be looked into and
adjusted to suit everyone.

This is really disappointing. It has decreased battery life for me - previously, I charged my Alta HR each Sunday, now I need to charge it after 5-6 days, which I tend to forget.
Switching off my phones bluetooth to "fix" this is not an option, our local "corona contact app" needs that to communicate with other nearby phones.

I've been hoping for month now that Fitbit would bring the option back. Can't be too hard, since it already existed in the past, right? But it seems they don't care what users ask for on this forum.

Today my watch bracelet broke (the second time since getting the Alta less than two years ago 👿), and since I'm still annoyed by the removed All-day sync option, I did some research into other trackers. I found that Garmin makes some (vivosmart and vivisport) that supposedly let you switch off Bluetooth in a menu on the watch itself. I figured that information might be interesting for others who are annoyed by the new forced all-day sync.

Personally, I ordered a Garmin now instead of a new watch strap.
