Distance goal miles to km conversion error

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have Android moto G4.  I upgraded Fitbit to play the new Fitbit bingo (love it!).

However I noticed a glitch that happened in past month.. and I can only put it down to the upgrade .

My daily distance goal is 5 miles.  I went to update my activity goals and see it was on my dash as 3.11 mike's.  Odd, so I changed it back to 5 miles. However I noticed that when I had reached 5.2 miles... I was still a long way from green .

From what I can see, Fitbir seems to assume that my 5 miles is 5k (and has lowered my miles), but it is still calculating it on miles and not km

I took SS when the front showed not green miles, bur the weekly dash DID. Then the weekly dash changed to 3.2 miles (nor green). Very confusing.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Fitbit app,

but no change.

Is there a system glitch ?

This happened for me between Sunday March 8 to March 9.

Exactly the same thing has happened to me. Distance goal has always been 5 miles a day but the Android App has defaulted to 3.11 miles. If I change the setting back to 5 miles, the app dashboard display never reaches the daily goal unless I do over 8 miles. On checking the online dashboard, by changing the goal back to 5 miles in the Android app, the goal on the online dashboard has changed to 8 miles.

Clearly there is a problem but, unfortunately, no solution from Fitbit!

I am having this issue too. My app goal is 5 miles. But online it has somehow made it 8.02 miles. If I change it online to 5 miles it makes it 3 something in my app and because they are different it's not giving me a full circle on my app though it does give me the star showing I met my goal when you click on miles. What is going on they should be the same. I never had an issue with it before yesterday 3/24/2020

This has to be a miles to kilometers conversion issue.  5 km = 3.1 miles...   5 miles = 8.047 km.  The numbers align to what Piscesrn is seeing.

RIdgehiker than makes sense but I haven't changed any settings and very rarely actually log ln the the online dashboard  and everything clearly says miles.  So frustrating.

What Ridgehiker says about the miles/kilometres conversion is correct. However, just like Piscesrn and the original poster on this thread, I have made no changes to settings and everything clearly states miles and always has been set to miles. Clearly there is an issue with the Android App as the same issue is not being seen on my iPad or on my desktop.

Hi.  I completely agree this is an application issue, not user error.  I'm sorry if wrote my message badly.  I am seeing the same behavior on my Android with no changes on my part.

My guess is a code change was made that mixed up miles and kilometers in some calculation.  It is also happening if I change my display units from miles to km.  It reports the number of km I did, but the circle still shows the same percentage completed.

I checked my daughter's app (also Android), and hers seems to be working correctly.  That baffles me.

Hopefully Fitbit will assign someone to look into this.

This has been happening to me as well, for several days (weeks maybe?). I was at my PC today and logged into the browser dashboard hoping I could get things to clear up, but no luck. Alta HR with Android app on a Pixel 3.

I'm having a similar, but slightly different issue. I set my distance goal to 4 miles, and the goal progress never shows met until I get to 5 miles.  Even if I set my goal to 3 miles, it still tracks progress to 5 miles.  Changed on the app.  Changed online.  Doesn't matter.  I get my stars in the detail, but the nice round progress indicator on the app doesn't get it.

Just got a new Ionic after my last one died a year ago, and I believe it did this then, too.  I've never been set for km, and don't think that's affecting me.  It just can't seem to figure out what the right denominator is.

I also have the exact same problem as original poster, and also did not change my settings for it to go into effect. I wish someone from Fitbit would actually answer these threads, even if it's only to say that they know the problem exists and they're working on it. Very frustrating. I have an ionic, and an Android phone.

Fitbit did ask me to correspond via facebook messenger, and we worked out
that my phone is no longer compatible with the new upgraded app. They
therefore suggested I upgrade my phone and this would then be OK
(somehow!). Not particularly helpful.

If everyone experiencing the issue had the same phone or slightly older models, then sure, I'd buy that response.  However, my wife and I are both having this exact same issue on Pixel 3 phones; models which are less than 2 years old.

Best Answer

Yes, same issue with my Pixel 4 phone!

Best Answer

Yes. I have a less than 2 yr old phone.as well.

My Samsung S8 is a bit over 3 years old.   It is also happening on my Ionic in the activity app, so I think the version of phone seems to be a dodge.

It would be nice if Fitbit were to look into this a bit more seriously.  On the other hand, I have been pretty excited the few days when I actually filled that circle up.

I am glad I'm not the only one! For Mother's Day I got the Fitbut Versa Lite and my default distance goal was set to 3.11. I go well over that most days but my circle is never filled. I can't seem to find a solution. It drives me insane. Like everyone said, the star is there when you click onto the miles portion but the circle on my Dashboard has never been filled. I think it will fill if I hit 5 miles but the closest I've come is 4.66 miles. I hope someone finds a solution for this soon.

LoMom01 - You said the default was set to 3.11 miles?  Interesting, as the default was always 5 miles, and 5 km = 3.11 miles.

Has anyone else gotten a new device and had this happen right out of the box?

Again, there is something strange going on with their miles to km conversion.  Let's hope Fitbit can find an answer soon!

I have just got a Fitbit 4 a quite new android phone and I am having this problem. The phone app has the distance goal as 5 miles but the round display is looking for over 8 miles for completion. I went to Fitbit .com to look to change the goal there and it was set to 8.11 so changed to 5 miles. When I look back at the Fitbit app it has changed from T miles to 3.11

Sorry just to continue. Before I got the new Fitbit 4 I had a Fitbit 3. I have not changed my phone or app. Just changed over the device.  This never happened on Fitbit 3. Something is wrong between the syncing the online dashboard and the phone app, mixing up miles and km I would guess
