Hi,

Does the barcode scanner function not work in Ireland when you want to log food?

Thanks

@Banks1986 Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the details mentioned.

Note that at this time, barcode scanning is only available for customers using the United States food database. If you use another food database, the barcode scanning option won't work. To check which food database you're using, see How do I change my food database?

The food could be logged manually only once then it could be added to your food database and it'd be easier to log it next time. Learn more about it in this article How do I track my food with the Fitbit app?

Last but not least, I moved your post to this board, as it's more related to the topic.

Hope this helps.

I asked this question (except in reference to the UK) years ago as it was a feature of Fitbit that was promoted and appealed to me. I recently started logging calories again and can't believe it is still not available outside the US. I don't think Fitbit have any intention of introducing it to the rest of us.

@SilviaFitbit   Your answer conflicts with available information.  A Feature Suggestion asking for international barcode scanning was marked as Released in 2020.   Can you please verify the information as this might help @AliGrowsStuff.

@AliGrowsStuff  This thread caught my eye, even though I am in the US.  Another user had a question a while ago regarding the database.  A store here in the US is based in Germany.  She was able to scan foods sold there after I suggested changing to the German database.  Have you tried the Ireland database recently?

I also want to point out that the linked Help article has outdated instructions on how to change the food database in the mobile app.  The correct path is tap on your profile picture > Activity & Wellness > Nutrition & Weight > Food Database.
